Blessing of the Fleet new date has been set for Saturday August 9th.
The 57th Annual Blessing of the Fleet / Parade of Boats will be held on Saturday, August 9th, 2014. Theme for decorating is "Noah's Ark". The only changes at this time are the Antique and Classic Boat Society / Mississippi Valley Chapter will not be able to attend and Captain Dutch Hauhe will turn over lead boat duties to his Co-Captain of previous years Randy Bicknese. All other aspects and times will remain the same. Upper Pool Parade will begin in front of Yacht Club of St. Louis at 1 PM, Lower Pool Parade will begin at Alton Marina at 1 PM, both parades will merge and pass the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rivers at 2:15 PM. All boaters are welcome to join the parades at any point along the routes.
We will be asking for volunteers to assist in cleaning up the Our Lady of the Rivers Shrine site in the next week or so. Anyone that can help in removing the debris or that may have chainsaws and bobcat type equipment to remove the trees that have been left behind by the
flood waters would be especially helpful. Cleanup date will be posted on the Blessing website and RiverBills.com.
